A plumber in Hoogeveen or an installer in Assen gets called when the boiler dies. The site has to do three things: get found on “tradesperson + town”, show that you actually do the work, and make calling or emailing possible on a wet phone.
No slider. No “welcome to our family business” as the first sentence. Yes: service area, services people search for, photos of your own jobs, a tel: button.
What has to be on it
H1 with trade and town. “Plumber in Hoogeveen”, not “bespoke installation technology”.
Service area. Assen, Emmen, Meppel, Hoogeveen, or “south-west Drenthe”. Google uses that for the Local Pack.
Services in their words. Leak, boiler service, bathroom, heat pump. Not “total solutions”.
Photos of your own work. Before/after of a bathroom you fitted. Stock photos of a smiling engineer work against you.
Price or process. “Call-out fee €X” or “quote after a site visit, within one working day”. Empty is a reason to call the next name on the list.
Reviews. Real names, tied to the Google Business Profile. Bought is worse than none.
Contact that works. A large call button, a short form (name, town, what is broken, request a callback). WhatsApp is fine, if you also answer it.
What you do not need
A webshop. A blog you do not keep up. A chat widget that cannot answer “what time do you open?”. Eleven subpages for every boiler brand.
An AI chatbot makes sense if you get the same ten questions every day. The call button first.
Local SEO, in concrete terms
Claim the Google Business Profile. Category: plumber / HVAC contractor, not “general business”. Photos of the van and of the work. Opening hours that are correct, including public holidays.
NAP (name, address, phone) the same on the site, GBP and Facebook. “Jansen Installatie” on one and “Installatiebedrijf Jansen Hoogeveen” on the other is two companies to Google.

If the GBP profile is empty and you have no photos. First five real photos and ten reviews, then the site. Otherwise you pay for a shop window without a product.
